Yesterday we covered the basics about getting your feet wet coming into your first E-Mail Marketing campaign. I made sure to elaborate the differences between a double opt-in list which has become standard now, and what most honestly think of when anyone says an email marketing shindig. This being said today we are going to approach some new material. So strap in, grab a cold drink, and get ready to take some notes.
I also want to take a minute and thank everyone for vising this blog and helping make my goals come to fruition. This post marks 100 posts on this blog. Over the course of the next 100 posts I plan to add easily navigable page for blogging aka the “Bloggers toolbox”, an “Internet Marketers Guide” and a few other tidbits I will stay close lipped about for now. This is a way for me to fulfill my ultimate goal of providing an almost one stop blog that is honest and accurate AND helpful for everyone from newbie to veteran. Keep coming back and I promise I will keep posting great content. Without YOU the reader this blog would die. Again Thanks for reading! Back to Email Marketing For Newbies Part 2.
We now know what type of list we want to run, and the why’s; as well as, the How’s. Now that we can put a plan to papper lets discuss these next steps in depth. First we will talk about successful ways to capture leads for your blog or sales campaign. I first suggest you decide on a niche. For me my main list which I sell many different products to is primarily concerned with blogging for profit. Being as they are also probably internet marketers and affiliate sales people I can slip in the random product to fill a potential lead. We will discuss the product aspect of this in the next section, for now lets focus on the people we want to get on our list. We have a niche in mind by this time as generalizing your blog may work I promise you will not have a lot of success to report if you dilute your marketing lists. Define which niche you will be providing for with a laser dot. This will make your customers much more open about the products you will be serving; as well as, making your life easier down the road.
Some marketers will use their blog to help catch leads which is ok in my opinion. You should however be completely honest with them before they opt-in to let them know what they should expect from your “newsletter”. This is a passive way to collect good leads as surely people who are reading your blog regularly may be in need of whatever it is you might want to sell.
Another great way is via a pay per click campaign or PPC. PPC’s allow you to target your niches keywords. Depending on how popular your niche is this may or may not be a good way to capture leads, but if someone is searching for what you have you can be sure they will be much more attentive than most of your other leads. For the newbie I do not suggest jumping straight into a pay per click campaign. Do your research and start small on a budget. Set up your google adworks or other ppc program to bill forward instead of on the backend. You can easily spend thousands of dollars. Prepay is the way to go.
Yet another popular way which recently was mostly burned out across the net is a Joint Venture Giveaway, or JV. A JV does not have to be just two people it can be many marketers as primary sponsors. Essentially what the goal is with these is to collect a massive amount of leads. Of course you will need people to promote this on a huge scale. Generally you try to get friendly with someone larger than yourself that is networked at least a little. Manage to get on the ticket and you have just taken the first step. More than likely though your first step will be submitting a gift to a JV. In turn if accepted you will be added to the master gift list. This is the fuel which drives the bottom half of a JV. Essentially the week before launch you will be gathering as many promoters with lists and reach to promote a week or less of giving. Their people will sign up and submit gifts which you will approve.
The people that you contact to promote are not so much driven by the new leads they will acquire but more by an upper level behind the closed doors contest. Often times many people who run jv’s will award the person who referred the most leads a cash prize or something that they otherwise could not live without. Back to the bottom half the gifts willl go live one week after the promoters are done with their work at this time everything shifts into high gear. As the word spreads like wildfire within your niche about the free gifts, software, ebooks, etc people will sign up. In exchange for their first name and email address, yes thats right they just double opted into your mailing list; as well as, whoevers gifts they downloaded. This works two fold. The promoters catch valueable leads they otherwise would of had to work for twice as hard, and you get them to promote for you alleviating 90% of the work involved in otherwise trying to capture new leads for your list.
Now I know your probably like me and especially if your just starting out you do not want to award people from your pocket money. Just like with anything on the net you can monetize your JV. The most popular method is to offer a variety of OTO’s or One time offers. These will pop up as you log in. They are a non invasive in between page which are proven to be highly successful. In my last JV I made $100 off oto’s after paying out a substantial cash prize. This JV was the GreatBloggingGiveAway.com. I was just coming into the scene when I did this and I wish the site was still live, but it is not. Apparently and also as a word of caution my x-mentor was not completely honest with a lot of people if you visit the url you can see what happens to those folks. I do not want to skew off subject here but you must take care of your own assets. Right before my move I had moved off his hosting and completely cut ties with him and his business. Always do your research before you make the plunge, and surely do not be afraid to ask other marketers.
I plan to release the GreatBloggingGiveAway2.com very soon, but that is for a totally different post
In the end a JV was a great idea to generate lists as big as 10k worth of people in one sitting depending on who you knew and how well of a pre-launch you had. Just like with everything else anything that works will be abused. As this fad caught on right before the bubble deflating a little in the U.S at one point just in the IM/blogging niches we had 10 jv’s in one month. As you can imagine the lists were diluted considerably at this point. This does not mean you should not attempt a JV or not participate in one. No matter what, every lead is very valuable.
Overall warming people from your niche to your list is not very hard. Generally people will leave if they are freebie seekers, which is to be expected and not a big deal. Some people will leave abruptly after having been a die hard loyal customer. Just like with anything else in life people change and so do their plans. Do not fret just remember to be honest and up front and you will have no problems.
Due to the enormous amount of content this post was going to have covering what I had originally planned to I am going to add another part to this series to keep these posts from going on to far. For newbies and vet’s alike this is alot to digest in one setting. Tomorrow I will cover issue’s such as “so what am I selling again? oh yea products” all the way to payment issues and a few other things to finish this series out. If your a person who likes to see things hands on at the end of the series I will have an area setup for you sign up for participation in my next JV which will be thegreatblogginggiveaway2.com It’s in the works as we speak. I want to have as many people able to participate and possibly even gather their first leads in a safe and controlled situation.

Another good one bud….can’t believe I read all that…it’s a long post, but it’s full of content man….I love it…keep it up
It is in fact a lot to digest especially for someone really new. Tha’ts why I think its great to get this down and in an archive where folks can stop by and take their time to read it. Not often to many marketers let out how to even get started. Most often offer a “mentor” system which will cost the individual a good amount. Here I will help you and walk you through getting started while keeping your over head costs to a bear min. That’s how I wish I would have gotten in the business.
