So yesterday we covered the basics about getting your feet wet coming into your first E-Mail Marketing campaign. I made sure to elaborate the differences between a double opt-in list which has become standard now, and what most honestly think of when anyone says an email marketing shindig. This being said today we are going to approach some new material. So strap in, grab a cold drink, and get ready to take some notes.

I also want to take a minute and thank everyone for vising this blog and helping make my goals come to fruition. This post marks 100 posts on this blog. Over the course of the next 100 posts I plan to add easily navigatable page for blogging aka the “Bloggers toolbox”, an “Internet Makerters Guide” and a few other tidbits I will stay close lipped about for now. This is a way for me to fufill my ultimate goal of providing an almost one stop blog that is honest and accurate AND helpful for everyone from newbie to veteran. Keep coming back and I promise I will keep posting great content. Without YOU the reader this blog would die. Again Thanks for reading! Back to Email Marketing For Newbies Part 2.

The first thing that comes to mind for most when the phrase email marketing is uddered is that most hanus trashy spam email you get in every account asking you to take just one look at the next best thing. As of late for me it seems that these marketers or as I would prefer to call them spammers think that I may need to purchas presciptions online. No thank you and while we are at it please stop asking me to buy your viagra.  The type of E-Mail marketing I want to talk with you about and give you a general enough walkthrough so that you will feel comfortable giving this a try via the many available outlets to a blogger.

First of all I do not approve or condone of any type of marketing that is not sought after in some form by the person looking for a product in the first place. Spam is a very serious thing. The type I will be talking about is an opt-in mailing list. For instance soon you will see a graphic located above my rss subscription button on the right side of the site that essentially will say “click here to recieve my free ebook” before you get it though I will ask for your first name and your email address. Before I allow you to download my ebook you will have to confirm that you opted into this mailing list otherwise you will not be added and most certainly will not recieve the ebook.

Technorati For Your Blog

Technorati!

Technorati at this point has indexed any blog which receives at least one hit a day, or so they say. Which at this point I will not argue with as they have breached the 14 million blog mark which is more than I will ever have time to see. If by some chance you are not familiar with Technorati then either you live under a rock, or you have just started blogging. To make a long argument short Technorati is the authority in the blogosphere at this point. While many have tried to copy none have come close. At some point if you watch your analytics for where your traffic is coming from you will see from time to time that you too receive a few visitors every now and again.

I also recommend you check out your niches competition on Technorati to see what your up against and find ideas for new post’s and maybe even a joint venture or two. If you take the time to search or just poke around I assure you that you will find some pretty awesome blogs you may have not found otherwise. Networking is a huge thing for the success of any blog.

Another week and some blistering hot content to the masses. I have decided to publish the Blogger’s Toolbox Page a little early. I hope everyone finds this a valuable resource and reference.  We are doing a great job getting close to the goals I set earlier this week and I just want to thank everyone for stopping by and taking a look at the blog.

Also this last week we saw a few changes to the site and some extra polishing being done. The month I was posting away from the keyboard left a few things in disrepair and as such you may notice that twitter friends is gone. My biggest hope at this point is that twitter does not fail under its own success. Their attempts at scaling the service to traffic loads is not quite working out the way they expected. I would encourage google or even microsoft to buy this service slightly monetize it and deliver its true potential. Otherwise I fear that many will be leaving the service for others. One of twitters truly amazing achievements so far is to bring together the largest unified community of microbloggers in the world.  What will happen? Who knows. I do know they are working hard to get things right though.

toolboxToday I am going to share with you the plugins this very blog uses to stay alive. Keep in mind these are all wordpress plugins so the bloggers reading here not using wordpress yet may be out of luck on some of this fantastic and essential plugins.

A blogger needs help as content production and promotion are top concern for the new author and blog alike. This does not leave much time for the little things that make a blog home for so many of us when we come to visit. Keeping this in mind generally most people will have anywhere from 10-20 plugins. I am quite religous about the ones I keep active and installed as I like to have the smallest footprint on my server resources that is possible. This can be contributed to my overly clean nature or just plain craziness depending on how you want to think about it. This being said Less is More as too much is garbage not just for your resources but also your reader. Depending on your hosting package or your need for more than the essentials these are definate must haves as far as plug ins go.
